A front tumulus that stands quietly in a residential area. It is possible to climb, but there are so many fears that I cannot climb.

A hill that suddenly appears in a residential area? Mountain? Woods? I can't put it inside, but I can feel the history.

It is a front-rear burial mound built in the latter half of the 6th century, and it is said that there used to be more than 100 burial mounds in this area, but during the Meiji era and during the war, it was on the grounds of the Obatagahara training ground and shooting. It is said that many of them were destroyed by the training, and there are still trenches dug during the exercise on the burial mound of Nagatsuka Kofun. The Obatagahara Exercise Area was used for various purposes such as shooting ranges, airfields, and flight schools, and was also used as an execution site for B29 crew members who crashed in Nagoya and Ise Bay.

It feels like a forest quietly in a residential area. Moreover, there is a kindergarten next door.

It is an tumulus that does not have a strong presence because it is designed to blend in with the residential area.

There is a raised mountain in a corner of a residential area. One of the old burial mounds scattered around Obatagahara, the front and back burial mounds. The surrounding area has been used as the Army's Obatagahara shooting range since the latter half of the Meiji era, and traces of trenches dug during exercises still remain on the burial mound. The burial mound was once surrounded by a double moat, but during postwar development, the embankment was demolished and the moat was completely reclaimed. Today, houses are densely packed up to the side of the mound. The mound itself is preserved as a green space "Kitayama Park" managed by Nagoya City.
