★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 全体的に展示が中途半端なような気がしましたが、奥多摩の自然のことを学ぶには良い施設だと思います。希に向かい側の山に野生の鹿を見ることが出来るそうです。観察用の望遠鏡も置いてあります。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 青梅線の終点奥多摩駅からバスで更に30分以上山の中に入った終点（こんどはバスの終点です。）東日原から徒歩で20分くらいかな？廃校になつた日原小学校に隣接してあります。こちらは、鉄筋の立派な建物内に森や木々の展示かいつばいです。
有名らしい画家さんの巨樹の絵や写真、数え切れない年輪を刻んだ切株などせつかくです、是非立寄りましょう。更にこの奥には関東最大級の鍾乳洞の日原鍾乳洞があります。

匂いや雰囲気など昔学校の校外学習で来たような空気を感じる事ができました。

私は八王子市民なのでここまできて休館と分かっても・・・まぁかなり愕然としましたが損失は少ないですが。
残念過ぎます。そういう大事な話はちゃんと発信してください。
失礼ながら、感染を警戒するほど混雑する場所ではないと思いますが・・・それより、鍾乳洞の方が危なっかしいのでは？
