Excellent facility with a lot of astronomical items of the past to see. The guard at the Gate House was very friendly and gave us some brochures. He actually came running after us a few minutes later when he realised he gave us the wrong language. I wish guards in other parts of the world were that caring. I strongly recommend the facility to any Astronomer or Astronomy enthusiast.

Come to join a winter school here. There are free areas for visitors to enjoy and see the telescope dorms. Every month they hold the star gazing in the evening, but you need to register first on the website.

I attended a Stargazing event. The event was organized neatly, the pamphlets were available in English. There was a presentation given before viewing the stars. The staff were friendly and happy to provide information. There were also small telescopes to view other stars amd the moon.

A very nice place, but alas not so much to do. I think I arrived on a day off because the place was pretty empty. Gladly we met an instructor that explained everything (half in Japanese and half in English) and we surely enjoyed our time there. Besides the two active observatories there is also a huge park you can take a stroll in and a small museum and library if you want to enrich your knowledge a little bit, yes it is all in Japanese, sorry. We spent there a couple of hours. You can go here after or before the visit in the Studio Ghibli Museum.

Hello everyone, If you love to see how Japan has developed the Astronomical instruments like huge telescope and other scientific stuff in the past centuries, this is completely the right place for you to get in to. You can touch and see these instruments . Is not is amazing ? Its just 45 minutes in west of central tokyo if you use train. it is located in Mitaka city of Tokyo prefecture. I had visited this place and found a huge area with green jungle to walk into, awesome ancient buildings used to observe the universe and many other ancient scripture, books etc. related to astronomy. I also enjoyed playing the quiz that would be really fun for kids. There is a cafeteria where you can find really cheap Japanese food menus. You can spend couple of hours easily in natural environments... NO ENTRY FEE , ALL FREE !! ALL 7 DAYS OPEN from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM ......

If you love space and in the area then it's all worthwhile coming here. It's not massive. They could do it a little better though and have an opportunity to turn it into a tourist attraction. A short walk away is jindaiji gardens and temple and I would recommend doing all three in the one day. Google maps will help you.

A good place with lot of information to learn about the space and telescopes. One can spend two to three hours going around the learning the different types of telescopes used to watch the space. Located in a very quite neighborhood and covered by lot of trees this is a good place to relax to a Sunday afternoon.
