★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The matcha tea and matcha cake is amazing. It's like being transported back into an by gone era. Soft classical music, aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a quaint reprieve from the replicated stores along the Narai village stretch.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice and quiet cafe for taking a break. A set of maccha (Japanese tea) cake and maccha au let is not too sweet but sweet enough to heal your tiredness. My recommendation is an apple tarte; Nagano prefecture is famous for its fruits, and the apple used is just great. Best with a cup of Toraja coffee.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mr Imai is a refined Japanese gentleman who will make you feel right at home in his cosy little shop. ? Make sure you try your coffee black to appreciate his skill making "syphon coffee". If you're lucky, you might meet his lovely little dogs, Piano and Chopin, too. You could easily spend an hour here chatting and learning about the area.
