鍋	鍋割山のギン太 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ この関所は、越後の大名や佐渡金山奉行が往来する三国街道の要所として設けられました。碓氷の関所に次ぐ、上州第二の関所として重要視され、初めは碓氷と同じく安中藩が、のちには高崎藩が警護に当たり、特に入り鉄砲と出女に目を光らせたのだそうです。現在は民家となっていますが、当時の面影を伝える茅葺きの役宅が残されています。ここには、もともと杢ヶ橋という跳ね橋がありましたが、度重なる出水によって流されました。ここが渡れないと、旅人は四キロ上流の祖母島番所にまわり、そこから吾妻川を渡りました。それでも渡れないときは、二十キロ上流の吾妻町の万年橋まで行かねばなりませんでした。昭和二十年頃までは、ここに渡し舟があり、赤城村や子持村から渋川伊香保方面へ行くのに使われていましたが、カスリーン台風の洪水以後、廃止されたといいます(^_^ゞ This Sekisho was established as a key point of the Mikuni Highway, where Echigo daimyo and Sado Kanayama come and go.
