Karaage (deep‒fried chicken) is said to originates from the Chinese restaurant “Rairaiken” in Yokkaichi, Usa City.

Shortly after the war, the Chinese owner was receiving chicken for cheap at the poultry farm, and started to sell it using the karaage method because he "wanted to let many people eat their fill without them having to spend much".

After that, starting with the shop "Shiyousuke", the number of Karaage specialty shops gradually increased and spread from Usa City to Nakatsu City.
