＜玉川上水水番所跡＞
玉川上水は、多摩川の羽村堰で取水し、四谷大木戸までは開渠で、四谷大木戸から江戸市中へは石樋・木樋といった水道管を地下に埋設して通水した。
水番所には、水番人一名が置かれ、水門を調節して水量を管理したほか、ごみの除去を行い水質を保持した。当時、水番所構内には次のような高札が立っていた。
定
一、此上水道において魚を取水をあび
ちり芥捨べからず 何にても物あらひ申問敷
竝両側三間道に在来候並木下草
其外草刈取申間敷候事
右之通相背輩あらば可為曲事者也
元文四巳未年十二月 奉行
＜水道碑記＞
玉川上水開削の由来を記した記念碑で、高さ460センチ、幅230センチ。上部の篆字は徳川家達、撰文は胆付兼武、書は金井之恭、刻字は井亀泉によるもので、表面に780字、裏面に130字が陰刻されている。
碑の表面には明治十八年の年記が刻まれているが、建立計画中に発起人西座真治が死亡したため、一時中断し、真治の妻の努力により、明治二十八年（1895）完成したものである。
＜四谷大木戸跡碑＞
四谷大木戸碑（この説明板の裏側にある）は、昭和三十四年（1959）十一月地下鉄丸の内線の工事で出土した玉川上水の石樋を利用して造られた記念碑である。
実際の大木戸の位置は、ここより約80メートル東の四谷4丁目交差点のところで、東京都指定旧跡に指定されている。

Motobun Shimizu Unannounced December
It is a monument that records the origin of the Tamagawa Kamimizu water cut and is 460 cm high and 230 cm wide. The upper 篆 is by the Tokugawas, 撰 is 兼 and 、, the book is by Kanai Nozomi, the inscription is by Ikame Izumi, 780 on the front and 130 on the back.
The monument of the year 1818 is engraved on the surface of the monument, but since founder Shinji Nishiza died during the construction plan, it was suspended temporarily, and by the efforts of Shinji's wife, Meiji 28 (1895) It is completed.
Yotsuya Okido monument (behind this explanation board) is a monument built using the stalagmite of Tamagawa Kamisui excavated in the construction of Marunouchi Line of the subway in January, 1959 (1959) .
The actual location of Okido is designated as a designated Tokyo historic site at the Yotsuya 4-Chome intersection about 80 meters east of here.
