Shinkansen connection, Jupiter and Cocolo...all I need for a quality life!

Went here via Joetsu Shinkansen from Uguisudani Station 6pm on a Friday Night Fare is around ¥8000~ Travel duration is : about 2hrs Seat is not reserved but I was able to sit anyway. When purchasing a Shinkansen ticket, you don’t necessarily need to go to the main stations such as Tokyo Station or Shinagawa station, any JR LINE would do. Just show your ticket to the attendant, and you get to pass through the ticket machine. In this case, I bought my ticket in Uguisudani station via Yamanote Line, inserted the ticket onto the machine, as one would normally do. When I got to Ueno station, instead of going through the ticket machine to exit the Yamanote Line Track, I went through the attendant booth and showed the Shinkansen ticket, where they let me pass. Otherwise, the ticket machine will not accept the Shinkansen ticket, not letting you through. Then, at the Shinkansen Area Entrance (yes, they have a separate entrance area) , that is where you insert your Shinkansen ticket without any problems. As for the Nagaoka Station, it has its own mall where you can shop for souvenirs. It has a Starbucks coffee other than Via mare. It has a shop where they sell different types of coffee , international and domestic The station has a walkway directly connected to its City Hall, a one of a kind architecture Advice: when travelling from Nagaoka station to Tokyo Area, reserve a seat. It gets crowded and for about two hours you will have to stand. And only be seated when most people alight to omiya station just about 30mins always from Ueno station

Indeed very quiet, but definitely needs more signs for direction.
