G	GMT on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A fabulous example of a Brunton lighthouse. Henry Brunton came to Japan in 1868 to advise the Government on the establishment of a lighthouse service. He sailed around the coast on HMS Manilla, and in December of that year came here and, after surveying the site, decided that it was perfect for a lighthouse: this part of the Seto Inland Sea having treacherous currents. The lighthouse was completed a few years later and is built to a typical Brunton design: solid and squat so as to withstand earthquake and typhoon. The building is only open one day a year but that doesn't mean that you cannot admire the exterior and the lovely views over the Seto Inland Sea.
