浄土真宗本願寺派、本尊阿弥陀如来。文明16年(1484)創建である。かつてここは中川瀬兵衛清秀(戦国時代の武将)が出城を築いたところと伝え、山号は「城地山（じょうちざん）」という。またその城は、「新城」と称したことから、現在の地名、「新庄」ともなったと伝える。
