The pamphlet says "Closed only every Wednesday and the end of the year", but we recommend that you check the website before visiting.

You can learn about the Mito Domain before and after the Meiji Restoration. Speaking of the Meiji Restoration, Satsumacho and Ryoma Sakamoto attracted attention, and although I had some knowledge about that area, I was able to learn many things that I did not know about the Mito Domain. There were few visitors, and I was able to calm down and enjoy myself at my own pace.

Items related to the Meiji, Taisho, Showa Emperor and the imperial family are on display. I was able to take a leisurely tour.

There are so many exhibits, but it would be nice if we could focus on the Meiji Restoration and the Emperor Meiji and take a closer look at the relationship with Ibaraki, Mito and Oarai. So 700 yen is expensive.

I think it is a good place for those who like the end of the Edo period. However, it is explained in the center of Mito Pass. There was a diagram showing the Mito school faction divergence and concentration over time, which was an excellent manual to understand. The exhibition corner mainly had valuable materials, books and articles from the Meiji period. Perhaps because the facility is old, the flatness of the glass in the first exhibition room is bad, and the exhibits look distorted. I felt like I was wearing strong glasses that were not right. In addition, a brown wooden glass frame was located in front of paintings and books. If there is an improvement in this area, I can appreciate it comfortably.

"There is a lot of labor and no merit." At the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, it caused a great deal of human damage, and the modernization of having a large amount of debt was forgotten with little consideration, but it is handed down as a tragedy like the Aizu clan. It's a love facility that lets you shed some light on the poor Mito clan. (Lol) At the beginning, it was a brilliant innovation idea, and at the end of the period when the theory of the Kobu Gattai of the Mito Domain, which was a longing for thinkers such as Shoin Yoshida, became the main force of the theory of defeat, it became obsolete as a backward-looking idea of the Mito Domain. Was unable to be included in the winning group of Satsunaga Dohi, and his achievements were forgotten. Many Mito feudal lords who were sacrificed because they believed that it was for the country due to the strangeness outside Sakuradamon and the rebellion of the Tengu party, although not the main character of the manga, want to shout "What was our fight!" Will be. Cry their hearts, listen a little at this museum.

It is a valuable place where you can feel the turbulent history from the end of the Edo period to the restoration. I can understand a little the unfortunate reason why the "great man" was not born from the Mito domain, which greatly contributed to the restoration.

I'm glad I was at the end of the Edo period and the Meiji Restoration. Free WiFi is available at the entrance and lobby. Surprisingly? I was deeply moved because it was an opportunity to learn about the family lineage of the emperors from Emperor Meiji to Reiwa. There were very few people, but I was able to spend comfortably because there were many people. It was well understood that the Mito Domain was a very influential place at that time. If you go to Tojo-tei House in Matsudo, there are some connections, so I recommend that as well. There was a statue of Emperor Meiji in the room where photography was prohibited, but the picture of Emperor Jimmu behind it left an impression. The room design and the cool atmosphere made the power stand out. (Especially because there was only one person in the room) If you want to see it, you can see it on the museum website.
