★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ハープの泉や高崎城址公園を歩いていると突然現れます。待ち合わせの名所にでもなればなぁと思いました。
 It suddenly appears when walking through the Harp Fountain or Takasaki Castle Ruins Park. I thought it would be a great place to meet up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「将軍の孫」というと、江戸時代の将軍のイメージになってしまったのですが、陸軍とか海軍の将軍という意味でした。街中に彫刻があるのはいいですね。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 名前だけ聞くと、変な髪形の北の人を想像してしまいますけど、作者『北村西望』さんは『長崎平和祈念像』を造られた方。
『将軍の孫』は日露戦争・橘中佐の像を造る為、参考資料をアトリエに置いておいたところ、作者の孫が身に着けて敬礼した瞬間を表現しています。
北村西望さんの表現する線の優しさと力強さが好きです。
If you hear only the name, you will imagine a person with a strange hairstyle in the north, but the author, "Nobumo Kitamura", was the creator of the "Nagasaki Peace Memorial Image".
"Grandson of the Shogun" has a reference document left in his atelier to create a statue of Colonel Tachibana in the Russo-Japanese War, and expresses the moment when the author's grandson wore it and salutes it.
I like the gentleness and strength of the lines expressed by Mr. Kitamura.
