K	KOIZUMI Yoshinori on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 幾分細かい感想をひとつしたためる。本丸は名門水戸一高の敷地になっているが、立派な医薬門の周辺だけ外部にも立ち入りを許されている。杉山門は当初建てられたら場所外までは舗装された道路となっているので路肩に移築されている。二の丸は教育機関の敷地になっていて、水戸三高や茨城大付属小などが並んでおり、在りし日を見せようと、白壁が瓦を連ねている。考彰館の跡地に石碑が建つ。近隣の弘道館、偕楽園と併せて一見の価値はあると個人的には感じる次第だ。 I have one somewhat detailed impression. ロ	ロン・オッター on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「背水の陣ならぬ背水の城なのね」徳川御三家の末席、水戸徳川家の城です。といっても、水戸徳川家は参勤交代のない「江戸定府」でしたので、代々藩主は江戸上屋敷で生活していました。その敷地は現在の小石川植物園、後楽園ゆうえんち、東京ドームとなっており、とんでもなく広かったんですね。そのような訳でこちら水戸城には城代しか詰めていなかったという事情もあり、思いの外質素なつくりだったそうです。そんな殿様不在が当たり前だった水戸城ですが、構えはえらく実戦的。舌状台地の端に位置し、北に那珂川、南に千波湖、東側の低地には3重の堀を巡らせており、防御力はピカイチ。唯一の入口となる西側も、高低差50mの常軌を逸した空堀が二重に切られており、それぞれ三の丸、二の丸と本丸を区切っていました。平地にありながら高低差を活かした山城のような連郭式の縄張はダイナミックで見応え抜群です。最近は当時の建造物の再築に力を入れているようでして、市民の浄財2,000万円を元手に二の丸の入口に立派な大手門と土塀が復元されました。また、2021年6月には二の丸隅櫓も完成したそうです。見たーい！ "It's a backwater castle, not a backwater camp."
