メリケンパークにある石碑｡高3m位､横幅4m位の大きな石碑｡それをスクリーンに見立てて、周りには観客の人影を模して石を置いた｡映画スターの名前が刻まれた42個の御影石が点在している｡
映画が最初に上陸したのも神戸。日本で最初の外国映画が神戸の花隈（神戸市中央区)で明治29年(1896)に公開されたことを記念して、昭和62年(1987)「メリケン・シアター」の碑が作られた｡国内外の有名映画スターは、神戸出身の評論家・故淀川長治氏により選ばれた。石碑裏にも名を刻んだ青銅板が埋め込まれいる｡
●人影に見立て置かれた42個の石､知ったスターの名を探すのも愉しかろう｡カタカナと漢字なので訳して案内が好かろう､宿題だ。

The movie first landed in Kobe. A monument to the "Meriken Theater" was created in 1987 to commemorate the release of Japan's first foreign film in Hanakuma, Kobe (Chuo-ku, Kobe) in 1896. ¡Famous domestic and foreign movie stars were selected by the late Mr. Choji Yodogawa, a critic from Kobe. A bronze plate engraved with the name is also embedded in the back of the stone monument.
