★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 戦国時代に北条家の影響下で、一時的に鎌倉公方代行を勤めた蒔田吉良家の室町時代後期戦国時代の居城。
その役割から同地は蒔田御所とも言われた。
又、縄文～弥生時代の旧成美学園遺跡も有ったが学校建設で城址遺構も古代の遺跡も失われた。
しかし、要害性の高い丘で有る事は周辺を歩くと良く解る。
近くに蒔田吉良家の戦国時代の菩提寺勝國寺も存在する。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 城址の主要部分は校有地になっている。戦国時代、吉良氏が小田原を本拠地とする北条家の家臣として城主となり、東京(江戸)湾対岸の房総半島に勢力を広げ北条と激しく対立していた安房里見氏への防備を主たる任務としていたそう。今では想像もつかないが、この辺りは当時はかなり重要な拠点だったようで、当の吉良家には北条氏康その人の娘が嫁いで来ている。横浜市らしく城の遺構はほとんど遺っていないが、高台からの見晴らしはなかなかのもの。

There are almost no remains of the castle like Yokohama, but the view from the hill is quite good.
