There are places that are earmarked. When someone travels to a city and there’s a restaurant by sir Joel Robuchon, I must go there. L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Roppongi Hills is one of those must-earmark places for fantastically formed French food. The restaurants is a warm red that immediately sets an aura of intimacy even if we were seated at the bar. The soup was a good starter, tomato with crunchy croutons. The main course I had, the lamb, I could have it again and again. The best lamb I’ve had in my 27 years of existence. The experience was what you’r expect from a world-renowned 5-star establishment. Great food, good service, and a saliva-inducing food story for a dinner with friends.

I've been to many branches in different countries and this doesn't disappoint. However in Japan your options for very high quality French style cuisine is definitely in abundance for the same price range. Having said that, this doesn't shine as much as it would in another country. It's still great and will come back for their classics.

My wife and I came here on our first trip to Japan together. Make sure to make a reservation prior to your visit. The restaurant website is simple to use and reservations can be made online in English. I had mistakenly made the reservation for the wrong date, but the staff at the restaurant were accommodating and allowed us to change our reservation on the spot. The service was intimate and staff were very friendly. The food is typical upscale French fare, but executed consistently and well. The lunch set menu is great and allows a good sampling of food. The lamb was especially exquisite as well as the desserts. The meal wasn’t memorable for any particular reason but overall it didn’t have any misses which I can’t say about even a 3-Michelin star restaurant.

Simply amazing! The scallops appetizer was perfect, the Wagu beef was the best I'd ever had, and the chocolate-with-chocolate-topped-with-chocolate-along-with-a-chocolate-spoon-rest for dessert was a thing of beauty. Damien hit us with the perfect wine recommendation; if he's around tell him what you're looking for and he won't steer you wrong. Obviously, this is not a cheap place. However, lunch prices are less intimidating and it's an experience not to be missed if you can swing it. Make sure you ask to sit at the counter so you can watch all the kitchen activity and chat with the staff walking by. Great place. Great staff. Loved it.

Amazing ambiance, great food quality. Had a very good evening with my wife on our anniversary. Head chef himself came asked about the food and the experience. Very good hospitality.

We celebrated our anniversary here and it is our first time to try michelin restaurant. We reserved a JPY5000 dinner course and it was really worth it. All of the food that they served has a quality. I also ask them what wine they could recommend for me and I really loved the taste of it (which is sweet and not too strong) definitely will go back again and try other course meal.

One of the best course meal I’ve ever had. The staff was very attentive. I had the five course dinner with cauliflower soup, salad, sea bass, beef stew and coconut ice cream. The highlight of the meal was the salad. I didn’t care much of the fish and beef. I would go back!

This place does serve really good food. Every plate had something interesting culinary wise. It goes without saying that everything was cooked to the perfection. Desserts deserve a special mentioning. Truly magnificent. The only thing I disliked was the interior. I don’t think it reflects the high quality of the food and service with its tacky “plastic-fruits-in-a-bowl-of-fake-ice” design.
