★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A shopping mall on the south of Kyoto Station. Easily accessed from the Hachijo-guchi exit. B1 floor is the food court and the upper floors are mainly for clothes (Shimamura, GU etc) and Don Quijote. There's also an affordable kimono shop on the back part of the 1st floor, definitely worth checking out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just in front of the Kyoto Railway Station, where Shinkansen, the bullet trains come and go is the Kyoto Avanti Mall . Flanked on both sides by Good hotels this mall experiences quite a high footfall. The mall has good variety of reasonably priced things. The basement has a good variety of restaurants too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing train, subway, bus, shopping venue! We stayed across the street and came here every day. The place is so big that even my husband got a bit lost ( he NEVER gets lost). The station is always bustling with people especially during commute hours. Take note of the general flow of "traffic" as you walk and you will get where you are going quickly. GPS apps don't work well because of all the floors. I wound up going in circles for an hour one day and had to go outside to get my bearings. This place had hundreds of places to eat and they all have plastic examples to help you decide which one to choose. The best part of this fabulous building is the skywalk and the views from the top!
