★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A shopping mall near the Kyoto Station and bus terminal. Strategically located and very convenient for the visitors, especially foreigners. Providing shopping experience with various choices of dining restaurants, snacks and bars. It's a nice place for spending time while waiting for your bus or train departure. There are free seats for visitors so you don't have to enter a restaurant or bar for sitting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shopping mall at Kyoto station basement level. Many stylish clothing stores and a great variety of restaurants ands cafes. Does not look very cheap, but there are many reasonably priced lunch places. Easy to get lost!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ippudo ramen is one of my favourite franchise ramen. Their akamaru is the go for ramen, slightly on the heavier side which is what I love. The meat is very little so take note on that. And since its a franchise, its slightly on a pricier side.
The tea is my favourite. Have a slight herbal taste to it, which is so damn good to balance the grease from the broth.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'll start with, I'm not much of a shopper when it comes to most malls or similar places.
So, approaching this as a review of what Porta is designed for, it's a standard place but with great qualities. It's located directly outside of and beneath the Kyoto train station, which makes it supremely convenient for anyone staying at the Hotel Granvia or any other close to the station hotels. The atmosphere is bustling as soon as the stores open, and the dining selection varies just enough for competition, and selection.
Of course, the main part of the general shopping stores are very stylish, trendy, and niche! An excellent mall to swing through if you're looking for some new clothes, or just have some spare time for a browse.
