Great great show-house with traditional dances and folk songs. We also got to try doing the dance. Recommended.

If you’re into culture, you’ll love it. If you’re in the area, just head in and watch. First few minutes, a video is shown followed by a dance performance then a host will appear and chat for a bit then finally the yumomi performance which is only for a few minutes then they let people have a go at yumomi and singing all together. Discounted price is ¥550 if you show them the coupon on the website.

A must-visit cultural insight to the origins of the Yubatake tradition where they cool down the water for people to bathe in. Comes with explanation and video for learning. Tickets are sold outside and you will notice a long queue near the timing given. Highly recommended!

The show is about how people in Kusatsu cool down the hot spring water. They will also encourage audiences to try it by themselves after their performance. It’s a must-visit place for tourists who come here.

Great experience. You buy ticket at the counter for that day and have to line up about 30 min before the performance starts. Make sure you have a face mask with you as they don’t allow to enter without it. The ticket for an adult person is 600 yen and totally worth the price. You’ll see a short video about Kusetsu history, that has english subtitles. Also you’ll see the dance and traditional cooling-water method that is very unique and interesting. The whole show lasts about 30min.

Traditional method of cooling hot spring water (yumomi) in Kusatsu Onsen, Gunma prefecture is very famous. Nicely dressed ladies are performing a dance while singing and performing a act to cool water. Kusatsu onsen is surrounded by mountains and active volcano. This area is famous for skiing and hiking too. Kusatsu Onsen is one of the top 3 hot spring in Japan. Fabulous place to visit.

I try to get hands on experience whenever possible to understand the local culture. Here was an opportunity to try the yumomi, the traditional method of cooling bathing waters. At the rate I'm going, I might as well let the professionals do it ?♨️?

Meh, was ok - commercialization of historic practices in a show for ¥600. Guess you only live once and it was interesting. Go just before 9 am to buy ticket for the 9:30 show and you won’t stand in line as long as later in the day.
