Konkoji - Mitoyo

It is the Shingon sect Omuro school temple Kinkoji, which is located on the south side of the road from Jotokuji. Although the opening of the temple is not clear, it restored the Dou of the Oei 33rd year Kakujoin in the Muromachi period and expanded its power as a temple of the Shingon sect, and had many Sueji temples. It is said that there was the last temple of 23 temples at the most time, and it seems that one of them was Kinkoji. The main hall with a copper-roofed roof that you can see immediately after entering the Konkoji Sanmon gate, but it doesn't look like the main hall of a temple ... I feel something strange. In 1873, a blood tax riot will occur mainly in western Japan. There was a riot in Kagawa prefecture as well. It is called the bamboo spear riot. Of course, it is happening in Mitoyo City. The turmoil centered on opposition to conscription, but at the same time, 48 elementary schools were burned down due to the opposition to student education. Many of these elementary schools were replaced by temples and the private sector, and 30 were burned. Kinkoji is one of them. The main hall of Kinkoji, which has been burnt down, is the current main hall, which was relocated from Ehime prefecture by dismantling the shrine that was no longer used due to reconstruction. Therefore, even though it is a temple, it has a shrine architecture style. There is a wonderful openwork on the outside and the inside is like a shrine. In addition, there is a statue of Kobo Daishi in front of the main hall, but underneath it is Ichigan Daishi, who has a sutra stone that says to write a sutra on a pebble. Then there is the tomb (Gorintō) of Yorihiro Hosokawa, the former owner of Nio Castle, in the precincts. The stone monument next to the tomb is engraved with the tomb of Hosokawa Tosa Morigen Yorihiro. Since the family crest is a Navagraha crest, it is thought to be a stone monument maintained by the Hosokawa clan of the Higo Kumamoto domain since the Edo period.
