Wikiには、「江戸時代前期に開かれた駒木根新田を元に駒木根村が成立し現地には駒木根神社が鎮座」と書かれていますが，当社の御由緒ははっきり分かりません。茨城県神社誌（昭和48年発行）によれば，鉾田市駒木根100番地に「御渡神社」が載っていましたが，その100番地は少し南の駒木根公民館隣の民家のようでして・・・まあ，番地と場所がずれるのはままあることですが，駒木根神社＝御渡神社なのでしょうか，謎であります。アクセスはいささか難易度が高いです。地図の神社マークの東の道から，思い切って私道のような径を進むと，鎮守の木木に囲まれて，鳥居があって木の根の張り巡らされた短い参道の先に社殿が鎮座していらっしゃいました。小さな境内ですが，巨木に囲まれた静かな隠れ家のような雰囲気の御神域です。
