主に東武とメトロでの利用です。 (転居してきた際)慣れるまで色々とトラブルの多い駅、界隈そして路線。 慣れてからも、時折トラブルに巻き込まれがちな駅、界隈そして路線。

西はマルイ、ルミネを筆頭に大型店舗と庶民的な飲食街、東は東電大と昔ながらの商店街となかなか両面とも魅力的かつ個性的な駅です。東京北口玄関としての駅としての存在感は今や上野を上回るレベルに達しつつある利便性の非常に高い駅です。弱点といえば荒川の氾濫でJRがよく止まる事ですが、私鉄線がカバーしているエリアも広いので、トータルでのスペックはかなり高い駅と言えるでしょう。兎にも角にも東京北部で最も活気に満ち溢れ成長を続けている駅と言えます。

最近、若者の移住率が高くなっている北千住。昔は汚くて臭いイメージがありましたが、だいぶ変わってきているようです。 JR、東武ー>日比谷線、千代田線、つくばエクスプレスが乗り入れていて、ちょっと慣れてないと利用が難しいジャンクションの駅です。 わたしは築地や中目黒乗り換え、横浜方面に出向くときには、北千住で日比谷線の始発で、1本遅らせても(凄く混んでる朝は2本遅らせる時もあります)前の方で待って座って移動します。その方が、必ず座れて本など読めて時間の有効活用が出来るからです。 日比谷線に載る改札階の構内には色んなお店が入っています。ちょっと全体的に高い気がしますが、晩ご飯のおかずなども買えます。 また、改札を出たところにも、最近、紀伊國屋やイートインのパン屋さんも出来ました。 ルミネもあるし、外に出れば丸井もあるし、何でもある中継駅です。 トイレも整っていて、海外の観光客さんにも使いやすいのではないでしょうか。 圧巻の、大型広告パネルが、何カ所かあり、美術展などでお金のある企画の、面白いイベント広告が張り出されたりしますよ。

“足立区=ヤバ○まち” “昼から酔っぱらいがさまよっている” “足立ディスタンス” とか、いろいろとバカにされたり、笑いのネタにされたりしますけど、ナント!乗降客数が世界で6位! そして、この駅から乗る電車で、関東地方の全ての県に行かれるとか、あらためて見てみるとスゴい駅です!

If they want to attract foriegners for the Olympics, and other tourists, they will need to improve. I asked for a ticket to Nikko and was sold the wrong ticket (it didn't go all the way to Nikko), then directed to a completely different train in a rush. Ruined the whole day, it took more than twice as long to get there, then had to buy another ticket or walk 6km. There seems to be no way to speak to them, or get a refund, other than go back to the station, and no way to lodge a complaint on the rail companies website. This is more the Tobu Rail company, than the Kita-Senju station. Other than this experience though, I do like the trains in Japan.
