名前のとおり駅のすぐ北側で木曽川を渡り、県境を跨ぎます。ホームからでも鉄橋を走る列車の写真が容易に撮影できます。
駅自体は普通列車のみの停車で無人駅です。堤防のそばなだけあって少し高い位置にありますが、バリアフリー設備はありません。

木曽川の堤防沿いには、散歩道があり、ウォーキングには最適です。
駅の堤防側は、踏切がありますが、電車の撮影スポットになってます。
桜が咲く時期には、お花見の方々が利用する駅。
堤防沿いの桜は、見事な色合いで、凄く感激します。
