★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 横穴墓とは、横穴式石室と同じ時期に作られた古墳時代のお墓です。素掘り隧道や川廻しと並ぶ房総の「穴」文化のひとつと言えるかもしれません。
横穴墓は主に太平洋沿岸の特定地域に分布していますが、房総の横穴墓の特徴は「高壇式」と呼ばれる形態です。
掘り窪めた横穴にさらに高い段を設ける形で穴を掘り、そこに遺体を収めます。
横浜とか伊豆とか、横穴墓がある他の地域に行ったときに見比べてみると面白いかもしれません。
ただ、穴に入るときは気をつけてください。何故かゲジゲジが暮らすのに最適な環境らしく、見上げるとびっしり…なんてこともあります。

It is designated as a historic site of the prefecture and is in good condition. Next to the Nagara side hole tomb, it is easy to visit. Engraved with characters such as "Daido 1st year", "Xu Se", and "Wood", it is a valuable place as the oldest gold stone in this area.
