After all, the lord of the Korokoro feudal clan changed during the Tokugawa era, so I wonder if there is no attachment from the locals? It's a waste as a castle with high material value as a modern castle ? I think Gifu City should also spotlight not only Gifu Castle but also Kano Castle!

There is a castle ruin, but there is no building at all, and the castle tower of Gifu Castle was relocated to the Ninomaru ruins and it existed as a third floor turret at that time, is there any restoration? I want to look forward to it in the future.

Kano is now part of Gifu City, but Gifu (Inoguchi) and Kano are different towns, and at one point there was even another prefecture called Kano Prefecture. I came to see Kano Castle, which can be said to be the center of Kano. The remains of the main enclosure are parks. It is a large and very pleasant park. It has not been converted into a tourist destination. It seemed to be a place of relaxation for the people of Kano. There are many schools and government offices in the vicinity. For Gifu people, Gifu is Gifu Castle on Mt. Inaba, and the town of Gifu is around Inoguchi, not Kano. Gifu Castle has a story of Dosan Saito and Nobunaga Oda, but Kano Castle is only the residence of the mid-level Fudai Daimyo Tokugawa, and does not evoke the romance of human beings in Gifu. However, Mt. Inaba is too high and steep. Actually, it seems that it had a residence at the foot of the mountain and was used as a government office, but it has a strong fortified side as a castle built by Dosan Saito, who is said to have originated from merchants. It may have been intended to curb the water transportation of the Nagara River, but it is also far from the highway. With this "deep" feeling, Ryotaro Shiba claims that Dosan Saito is a symbol of "entering the defense." Gifu Castle is a mountain castle, but Kano Castle is a flat castle. Ieyasu himself territorially built the castle by Tenka Fukon. It is said that the dismantled parts of the castle tower of Gifu Castle were diverted to the Ninomaru Gosankai turret. Currently, the third floor turret has been lost and the Arata River is used as the outer moat, and a samurai residence is located on the west side. It was in a position to hold down Nakasendo, and there was Nakasendo Kano-juku on the north side of the castle. The Kano prefectural office was established by the abolished feudal clan in the 4th year of the Meiji era, but Kano prefecture merged with Gifu prefecture. Buildings were destroyed or sold and relocated due to the abandoned castle decree. In the 33rd year of the Meiji era, the Gifu Prefectural Normal School was set up on the site, and the Honmaru site was used as a playground. In 1897, Kano Jinjo Elementary School was relocated to the site of Sannomaru. In 1945, the site of Honmaru became the headquarters of the 51st Air Division of the Army, and the Self-Defense Forces garrison was set up from 1954 to 1954. At present, only a few stone walls and moat traces can be seen in and around Kano Park (Honmaru Ruins). The relocated Ninomaru Gate still exists, but when I looked it up, it turned into a wedding hall and I was awakened. It looks like Gifu, but ... It seems appropriate to return to the land of Kano again. Until the Meiji Restoration, Kano was the political center in the vicinity. Gifu station was originally called "Kano station". The main enclosure remains as a park, but there are many schools and government offices nearby. The Gifu Local Meteorological Observatory is located on the site of the castle tower (third floor turret). The attached elementary school of the Faculty of Education, Gifu University is also located here. It is a diversion of the ruins of a castle and is a common sight in the city where the prefectural office is located. Kano is not the center of Gifu City and Gifu Prefecture, but is still on the south side of Gifu City, as a city along the Meitetsu line between the JR Tokaido Main Line and the main road No. 21.

The remains of the main enclosure have a convex shape, and stone walls and earthworks remain around it. Currently, it does not remain, but it seems that moats and kuruwa were arranged so as to surround the main enclosure. There is an explanation board near the entrance on the north side.

There is also a parking lot, so it is rather vacant. It is a square. There are no playsets with children, but the surrounding area is a moat, so it's not dangerous. However, you need to be careful on the moat. There are playsets in the park on the west side of the moat. The cherry blossom season is crowded, but the cherry blossoms are very beautiful.
