★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We where saying near by and though we try something different locally. And it was worth trying. Looks like mum's cooking and running this place . Yummiest Japanese deserts with the friendly atmosphere. Warm and very welcoming. Will definitely be back to try more...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wonderful place for traditional Japanese sweets. The anmitsu is a must-try. Staff is incredibly kind and foreigner friendly, and the service is incredibly quick. The interior has a more traditional and cozy feel. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An amazing experience for a foreigner - the design of the space makes you feel wabi-sabi, the patterns used are beautiful, there is a lot of wood and open fire to keep the water kettle hot. Sweets were good, I liked the dessert with fruit and mochi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ WE ENTERED BECAUSE OF KANTARO AND WEREN’T DISAPPOINTED
(Warning: Young adults from Central Florida/ America in for vacation) Right before entering, Hubs asked, “which episode is this one?” but once we walked through the door, we were both instantly transported because everything looked so recognizable from Kantaro: The Sweet Toothed Salaryman. We were further delighted to sit at the same booth as the show (very back right) and were presented with green tea upon sitting.
NO ENGLISH MENU - EVEN GOOGLE WAS CONFUSED
But that was okay because we knew we wanted Anmitsu as well as some basic ordering in Japanese. However, the menu was very interesting to browse because it appeared all handwritten with photos of most dishes laminated on. Because of the handwritten look, Google Translate Photos was a bit useless. Either way, we also took another dessert because the photo looked good (it has sweet beans, green tea ice cream, and mochi balls). Everything was delicious.
SERVICE WAS VERY SWEET
From our seat, we had a great view of the ‘kitchen’ as well as the green tea service. During our visit, it seemed almost every table filled up with all kinds of small groups… and no tourists! Despite not speaking any English, the older lady serving us was very sweet, and we had a strong feeling she knew why we were there. I would love to visit another time and try more of their desserts.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Traditional interior with small, wood furnishing. Full of locals after their sweet tooth fix and a couple of surly salarymen here and there also.
If you are after Kantaro’s light syrup anmistu and dark syrup anmitsu all you need to know how to say is:
Kuriyo shiroppo anmitsu hitotsu desu, tho,
dāku shiroppo anmitsu hitotsu desu. Onegaishimaaasu.
It will be delivered to you in 30 seconds and it is the best sweet you will ever taste. The red bean paste here is on a different level. Tread with caution, as it is easy to slip down the slope towards a third, fourth and fifth bowl of anmitsu. Keep those for the staff, who clearly help themselves to plenty of bowls while customers are not watching (you will see what I mean when you visit).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had no idea what to expect when I set out in search of Hatsune. Admittedly, I wanted to begin the Kantaro journey.
I entered a cozy shop, took the same seat as Kantaro and the magic began. I was immediately served a cup of matcha green tea. I had prepared to order in Japanese but wasn’t able to answer all the staffs questions. They immediately understood I was trying to order the same thing as Kantaro and we were off to the races. Brown sugar sauce! Boom. Get ready for deliciousness.
As soon as the dish was served I was in heaven. It was amazing and I went to a special place. God speed fellow sweet tooth salarymen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely, quality Zenzai served with grilled mochi and pickled shiso blooms. Free green tea, freshly made in front of you and served at each table like water. The shop is pretty by-the-book with regards to COVID-19 prevention measures.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had the Matcha Shiratama Anmitsu and it was hands-down the best I’ve had! 10/10 would recommend!! The Shiratama was soft and chewy, anko was smooth and slightly sweet, everything was so well-balanced in a little bowl ☺️ Due to Covid-19 you’re not supposed to have loud conversations in the shop but you don’t have to think about that since you’ll be too busy enjoying your dessert. ??♀️
