D	Donnie on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A tranquil in with wonderful amenities. Tyler and his wife (the owners) are incredibly hospitable and warm as the hosts. My wife and I had breakfast and dinner at the inn with each delicious meal being different as well as carefully and meticulously prepped with local ingredients. And if you don't feel like eating at the ryokan, there are plenty of great places to eat at that are in walking distance. The rooms are spacious and accommodating. Our rooms were prepped every day with fresh hot tea in the morning and cool ice water at night. The place has a natural small aquarium filled with gorgeous koi and carp fish. We opted to take a walking tour led by Tyler as well as a traditional tea making class. Tyler felt less like a guide, and more like a new friend showing us around the neighborhood and introducing us to the local people there. The area of Chikuma itself is surrounding by breathtakingly beautiful mountains and a river. If you are looking for a calm and peaceful stay in an area that is gorgeously intoxicating, this is the place.
V	Victoria Ryan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very comfortable ryokan, spacious room, lovely indoor and outdoor onsen. Very close to great izakayas and restaurants. A must is Tyler-san's walking tour of the town, very good value, we had a fantastic time during it. Hosts are extremely helpful, and lovely people! We loved it at Kamesei!! Tyler-san picking us up from the train station and dropping us back after our stay, was really helpful and much appreciated.
r	rick worland on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed a few nights here on a weekend getaway from Tokyo. The owners were fantastic! Very accommodating and helpful. We had dinner here one night (Traditional Japanese Kaiseki-style) which was amazing! Reminded me some of the better meals I've had down in Kyoto. One of the owners (Tyler) is a native English speaker (and an awesome guy to boot!), so we had no communication difficulties. All facilities were clean and rooms were spacious. We'll be back again for sure!

The ryokan is beautiful, cozy and lovingly ran by a lovely couple, Tyler and Mari. My room was very spacious, cozy, super clean, overlooking a small garden. Indoor and outdoor onsen baths were a special treat, as well as a traditional kaiseki dinner. The highlight of my stay was a Valentine’s Day bike ride with Tyler, Mari and a few other guests along the river, with the stops at the chocolate factory, coffee shop, winery and an Italian restaurant. It was wonderful to have a glimpse of “real” rural Japan. Tyler was kind enough to give me a ride to the train station. Thank you so much again for your hospitality and kindness. Lida

They offered to pick me up/drop me to the train station. I enjoyed accommodation:hospitality, the outside sulfur bath,breakfast , dinner, futon, the atmosphere !! An amazing experience !

Tyler was kind enough to pick us up from the train station when we arrived and drive us back when we checked out the town was a memorable experience and worth the journey. He took time out to give us some history about the town and their inn. The room itself was perfect. The bathrooms were clean. There was an indoor and outdoor bath for both men and women. And we took advantage of the private bath. We decided to splurge on the dinner served at the ryokan. The food was very fresh and unlike any meal I’ve had before. We were able to enjoy the nightlife within walking distance of the ryokan like the shooting games and bars. We were also within a short distance to the snow monkey park. My only regret is that we didn’t get to stay longer. We really appreciate the hospitality we received during our stay.

Nice private baths and warm rooms, and a fun surrounding area at night (although harder to do stuff during Corona). There's a mallet golf course nearby, which you need a mallet and ball to play, but looks fun.

The owner even stayed up late to let us in after the normal check-in time (9PM) and gave us very useful recommendations for our trip to the monkey park the next day concerning road closures.
