This is THE PLACE to buy a knife. They will show you different options and make suggestions based on your needs. Super knowledgeable staff and very friendly, worth the visit. Check the upstairs section for other supplies. Pay with credit card and get an extra discount.

A specialty knife store with a dizzying array of knives of various different prices and craftmanship. The staff speak English and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable regarding their wares. The Japanese live up to their service allowing you to wield and test the knife if it is to your liking. The knives are locally made in Japan with good build quality. The purchase comes with a free etching service.

Found this place in an online forum as a suggestion for the best place to buy knives in Tokyo, and it didn’t disappoint! The staff was very friendly and spoke English. They brought out tons of knives for us to try, and prices were reasonable. Free engraving and sharpening.

Amazing place if you like cooking and are looking for good knifes. They have great knifes finishes both in stainless steel or carbon steel. I was looking for a santoku knife which it is supposed to be an all purpose knife. They were very nice and offered to engrave it with my name for free. I asked them how to take care of the knife and they gave me nice tips and suggested to buy a good sharping stone.

Great place for knife shopping. Jerry (French sales person speaks fluent English and Japanese) helped me. Was very patient in showing the knives. Also ordered one which was not in stock. He also showed me how to sharpen the knives. Only downside was - not enough traditional Japanese (carbon steel) knives in mid-range. I had to go to another store for that. Overall great experience.

I visit the shop at Kappabashi every time I am in Tokyo. Sinxe we can’t travel due to covid , I have been shipping the stuff over. Just email your order and the shop assistant will clarify the required and items will be shipped once payment is made. Most of the equipments in my kitchen are from Kama asa - knives, pots , pans and steaming baskets. Good kitchen equipments makes cooking way more enjoyable.

The store feels like a Japanese knife version of an Apple Store. It doesn’t have that traditional feel to it as the other shops have. Their designs are for the most part simple and straightforward. This one seemed to be the most tourist friendly one as the information provided were in English. They had a vast variety of knifes from everyday use to more professional ones.
