★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 久々来たよ...眠らない街、新宿歌舞伎町。
今回のお目当てはこちらのお店。
『鉄板焼 お好み焼き じゅうじゅう』
ちなみに男女で来れば強烈なキャッチの嵐をくぐり抜けられます(それだと基本話しかけられない...男だけだと悲惨(笑))
プロデュースはタッキー坪井さん。あのタキツバの...ではなく、あの坪井さんですよ...坪井さん?!
店内に入るとたくさんのサインが...2011年からやられているみたいですね。実は何気に人気店なのでは!?
今回はアラカルトでいただきましたよ。
■じゅうじゅうサラダ
程よい甘みのニンジンドレッシングのさっぱりサラダ。
■ホタテ貝柱のバター焼き
生でも食べられるクオリティーのホタテをサラッとバター焼きに。さっぱりレモンを絞って。おっ!うまいぞ!!
■ホルモン焼きそば ★いっしーリコメンド
ここに来たらこれは絶対!!の看板メニュー。モチモチの麺に絶妙な味付け。ジューシーなホルモンとのバランスもいいね。思いっきりB級グルメなので、あんま馴染みないから比較しにくいんだけど、かなりうまいんじゃないかな...。
■山芋のステーキ
韓国海苔とわさび、醤油をつけて。
■じゅうじゅうステーキ
A5ランクの赤身の鉄板焼き。1,780円...っていうとリーズナブルなプライスも魅力的かな。
■ピスタチオアイス
いやぁ...タッキー坪井やるなぁ...ってなのが第一声。
正直言うと見た感じの雰囲気からより、だいぶ味に関してはこだわっていて、しかもシンプルにうまい!!って言えるクオリティー。
歌舞伎町のど真ん中なので、行く相手と時間帯はいろいろ考える必要はあるけど、そこがうまくハマればお店を選ぶ選択肢としては「全然あり」いや、「むしろあり」かと...。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 新宿の歌舞伎町でお好み焼きが食べたい〜って事で行ってきました!鉄板焼きメニュー全般が充実しており、居酒屋利用でも良さそうなお店だなと思いました。ごちゃごちゃしたお店が多い中、歌舞伎町で落ち着いて食べられるお店ですね。
お好み焼き目当てで行ったものの
他のメニューも美味しかったです♪
まずはツマミ系のメニューでたこわさ。
安定ですねー!お酒に合う。
サラダや1品系の鉄板焼きも
提供スピードもちょうど良くて味もバッチリ。
だし巻き玉子のトリュフ味は
プルプルの卵焼きの焼き加減が絶妙で
味も美味しかった!
ホルモン焼きそばは、独特の秘伝のタレが
なんとも言えず家では食べられないクオリティ。
メインのお好み焼きの豚玉は
キャベツがたっぷり入っていて
生地もフワフワしていて美味しかった!
油っこくないのですぐ食べられたので
大葉のお好み焼きも追加で注文。笑
コスパ面は良いとは言えませんが、
美味しかったし、接客が良かったので満足!
取り分けの皿を都度持ってきてくれたら
更に嬉しかったですね。

I went to Kabukicho in Shinjuku because I wanted to eat okonomiyaki! The overall teppanyaki menu is extensive, and I thought it would be a good place to use an izakaya. There are many messy shops, but it's a shop where you can eat calmly in Kabukicho.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good food and a big-hearted master. Atmosphere is extremely Japanese. I'm glad to give it four stars even though I have some concerns:
A minor concern is that it's more of a monja (AKA monjya or monjayaki) place than an okonomiyaki place. The Japanese-speaking master described monja as 'Tokyo soul food', but my theory is that his meaning for monja may be more like 'a food that captures the wet soul of old Shitamachi Edo'. I think it's fair to describe monja as wet and kind of sloppy, and that also describes the personality of empathic Edokko. The food isn't empathic, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I bet modernized-Edokko Tora-san loved monja. (Though I was just guiding tourists, now I think a regular 'pure' okonomiyaki place would have been better.)
A larger concern is that both monja and okonomiyaki are DIY foods, and the instructions are not so easy, especially if there's a language barrier involved. I think he should have an English card explaining that it's DIY, with an extra fee if he cooks the food and a fee beyond that to teach how to cook it. (Do you remember the old joke about the plumber? "It's $30/hour if I fix your pipes, $40 if you watch, and $50 if you help.") He'd probably need to hire help, though he was working by himself when we ate there. Maybe he could even sell cookbooks? (When I think of a regular okonomiyaki place, it's not DIY, but you may be able to watch them cook it, rather like a sushi place.)
Outside of the restaurant, I admit that I don't like the neighborhood too much, and I rarely go there. Perhaps that was the first time I've seen it at that time. However the restaurant and the neighborhood really capture one of the atmospheres of Japan and I'm sure that some tourists want to see such unusual things.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want Okonomiyaki, I wouldn’t recommend this place. I like my Okonomiyaki with a tinge of charring. This place serves Okonomiyaki that feels warm but not hot, unlike many other places. The scallops I ordered were slightly cold in the middle instead of being cooked just right.
I would recommend Teppan Baby instead.
