★ ★ ★ ★ ★ こちら常徳寺は臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院です。南北朝時代、明徳二年(1391)年頃の創建と云われています。
臨済宗の寺院らしく華美さがなく落ち着いた感じを受ける建物、庭が実に良いです。
特に円通殿は室町時代初期、応永八年(1401年)の建立で禅宗様式仏殿として四国唯一の貴重な建物であります。桁行三間、梁間三間の入母屋造り本瓦葺きで付きの円柱は石の礎盤の上に立ち外回りは唐戸の縦板壁、両側面中央に花頭窓が開けられ長押縁側がない。内部の床面は四半瓦敷、天井は高く龍の絵の鏡天井でその周囲は化粧屋根裏として來迎柱の全面に須弥壇を置き、逗子には本尊の聖観音菩薩を安置しています。
