★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 玉川八十八ヵ所霊場の参拝でお伺いしました、真言宗智山派のお寺で、春日山医王院常楽寺といいます。
玉川霊場の御本尊は聖観世音菩薩で、第二十六番札所になります。
マンガ寺といわれて親しまれています。
お寺の入口に古い石碑があり、「東方薬師如来」とある。
文化元年(1804年)甲子年三月吉日と刻まれている。
だがこの寺の歴史はもっと古く、宮内庁書陵部保存の中右記によると平治元年(1159年)に宮中の御願寺であったことが記されている。
本尊の聖観世音菩薩は十二世紀平安時代の作で、宮内薬師を信仰した人々により長く護持された、薬師如来、日光菩薩、月光菩薩、十二神将とその信仰の記録など多くの文化財が宝物殿に保存されている。

御本尊は金剛界大日如来像。
マンガ寺と呼ばれることもあるが、現在、堂内に貼られているものは檀家さん以外には見せることは無くなったとのことです。
余談ですが、外から見える所に貼られていた物は減った様に思います。
