中	中山家範 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 岩船地蔵尊は日本三岩船地蔵(下野岩船、越後岩船、上総岩船)の一つです。昔、大和の国飛鳥の里、春日の宮に安置されていたものを、今からおよそ七百年前、第九十一代御宇多天皇の建治元年九月 (二七五年)、時の中納言藤原兼貞卿が深く感ずるところがあって御本尊及び七十五柱の霊神を奉じ、東国辺土遊航の途中、たまたま台風に遭い一同舟中で一心に尊像を念じたところ、不思議やしばらくして当浦(当時小千谷村)の釣師海岸に漂着した。この時御本尊より多くの吉兆が現れ、無事上陸することができた。朝になり風波が静まると舟は大きな岩の舟と化して海上に・浮び、また尊体安置を示唆する霊巌も同時に出現したので兼貞卿は、大いにその奇瑞に感じて里人と相談しここに堂宇を建立したと伝えられています。地蔵像はひのきの寄木造で、像高三十三センチ、膝ばり二十八センチ、台座及び光背は後補されているが室町期の作である。また鋳銅ワニ口は、江戸初期の作である。長径三十八センチ、短径三十センチ。この種のものは、県内においてもその数が少なく、形も比較的大きい。【現地案内板より抜粋】ひっそりとした漁港に赤いお堂が目立ちます。釣師海岸とセットで是非。 Iwafune Jizoson is one of the three Japanese Iwafune Jizo (Shimono Iwafune, Echigo Iwafune, Kazusa Iwafune).
