北安曇地方では湿原のなかの丘や高台には神社がある場合が多いようです。縄文時代とか奈良時代、平安時代には、山間の湿原に人びとが集落を形成して生活していたのでしょう。高台にあるので、水害の危険を避けることができたからだと見られます。
