吉	吉田博史 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 恵比須浜の枕状溶岩の次に現れる三陸ジオパークのジオサイト、イタコマイマイ岩。柱状節理のある安山岩の岩塔。一億三千万年前の火山活動でできたとされている。安山岩の柱状節理は、すぐそばにあるマイルポストの丘の頂部でも見ることができる。こんな岩だけの頂部にミヤマビャクシンやマツが生育できるのは降雨だけでは足りず、海霧(じり)による水分供給があるからだ。やませが海霧を伴って吹き、ミヤマビャクシンは岩の節理の隙間で発芽し、その植物体全体で霧から水分を受け止めて生育する。根の周囲には土埃を蓄積した土壌もできはじめるので、そこに運良く着地したマツの種子が発芽生育できる。自然が時間をかけて為した結果を私達は見ている。新たな知見で岩石が安山岩AndesiteではなくてデイサイトDaciteであるとされた。指摘を受けてみれば、たしかに普通の安山岩よりはケイ酸分（石英質）が多く白っぽいようだし、階上岳を構成する花崗閃緑岩と同質の（噴出したものと地中深くでゆっくり冷えたものというでき方の違いはあるが）マグマによるものだということであるので整合する。ただ、デイサイトもいろいろで、比較的粘度が高く流れにくい性質のためかこのように柱状節理が現れるものもあるが、ランダムな節理になるものも多い。 Itakomaimai Rock, the geosite of Sanriku Geopark, appears next to the pillow lava in Ebisuhama. The reason why Miyamabyakushin and pine can grow on the top of such a rock is that rainfall is not enough and there is water supply by sea fog. Yamase blows with sea fog, and Juniperus chinensis germinates in the gaps between rock joints and grows by receiving water from the fog throughout the plant. Soil that accumulates dust begins to form around the roots, so pine seeds that have landed there can germinate and grow. We see the results that nature has done over time. New findings indicate that the rock is dacite rather than andesite. When pointed out, it seems that it has more silicic acid (quartz) than ordinary andesite and is whitish, and it is of the same quality as the granodiorite that composes Mt. (Although there is a difference in how it can be done) It is consistent because it is due to magma. However, there are various dacites, and some of them have columnar joints like this, probably because of their relatively high viscosity and difficulty in flowing, but many of them are random joints.
