★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 場所的には種差海岸ビジターセンターと言った方が分かりやすいと思います。芝地の広がる綺麗な場所。ビジターセンターもあり、キャンプ場もありゆったり過ごすには気持ちの良い場所です。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ この場所は種差海岸方面に向かい葦毛崎を過ぎて右側に太平牧場の正門見て二百メートルぐらい先の太平牧場側に登り坂の途中の空き地に[道の碑]があります。東山魁夷の[ 道 ]の絵はこの場所から振り返って灯台見たイメージです！今は途中に松があり、ちっと変わりましたけど?当時はなにもなく道の先に灯台があるだけだったようです?

作品では、牧場の草原の中の砂土の道が、真っ直ぐに伸び、遠くで右へカーブして彼方に消え、距離的にも、時間的にも、精神的にも、広がりが表現されている。
実際には、正面には灯台が、右には中須賀の渚が、見えていた筈だが、それらを入れてしまえばただの風景画に成るおそれを嫌って省略した作者の意図が感じられる。
