★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 太平洋に突き出した伊豆半島、先端である石廊崎のさらに端の端。この神社から南には、もう海しかありません。その海の向こう、水平線に近いあたりに伊豆諸島があり、天気がよく、空気が澄んでいるときれいに見られます。そばに案内板があるので、どれが何の島かもわかるようになっています。
熊野神社は切り立った崖の上にある岩に埋まるようにして建つとても小さくてシンプルな古びたお社です。が、その存在感は特筆すべきものがあるように思います。強い風が吹いたら壊れてしまうのではないかと思えるのですが（実際訪れた時、はるか下の波打ち際では激しい白波が立つような荒れ具合で用心していないとあおられるくらい風も強かったです）、ビクともせず、そこに佇む姿はまるで1000年を生きる古木のようにしっかりとしておりました。

Beyond the sea, near the horizon, there are the Izu Islands, which can be seen beautifully when the weather is nice and the air is clear. There is an information board near by, so you can see which island is which.
Kumano Shrine is a very small and simple old shrine built by being buried in a rock on a steep cliff. However, I think its presence is noteworthy. I suspect that it would break if a strong wind blows (when I actually visited, the wind was so strong that I was afraid if I wasn't careful because of the rough white waves on the shores far below). The figure standing there was as solid as an old tree that lived for 1000 years.

週末でしたがコロナ禍の状況の為か人も居らず、寂しい感じでした。
