It started when Ono no Takamura worshiped Enma in an old burial ground ... It is a historic temple rooted in the local area with bells and kyogen to welcome the spirits of Obon. The nun's Nembutsu was echoing.

It is said that the beginning of Injoji Senbon Enmado was on Suzaku Avenue, where Ono no Takamura, who is famous as the elite of Heiankyo, enshrined the Enma King. The omikuji of the magical king is humorous.

Walking distance in front of the bus stop Kenryuko Mae. There is also a free parking lot on the grounds. Kaisan was erected in Rendaino, the former funeral procession site, by Ono no Takamura. Enmaou, the principal idol, is a work of the Buddhist priests of the Muromachi period. You can also see the cherry blossoms of Samantabhadra, a famous tree related to Emperor Go-Komatsu. The Enmado Dainenbutsu Kyogen, which is held here, is famous as one of the three major Nembutsu Kyogen in Kyoto. It is famous as a tradition. Also, after this temple, the name of the town around here is called Enmamaecho. You can get the red stamp at the temple office.

It is said that the origin of the temple is that Ono no Takamura, who came out in the Rokudo of Higashiyama, was given the "law of welcoming spirits" from the king of the demon world, and built the Enmado. .. Therefore, it is a fairly old temple. After all, it seems that spiritual events are held during the Obon festival. Also, it seems that there will be Senbon Enmado Kyogen in early May. It's wonderful to see in the picture. You should choose the time to come. Even though I offered to worship at the reception, it seems that the time is fixed. Is it a waiting time of nearly an hour? After all, I went home for a walk in the precincts. What surprised me was that I gave a sutra in front of Jizo-san, a general guest with two young people who also gave up and went home. I was impressed and joined hands behind it.

Senbon Enmado 千本閻魔堂 : Senbon Emmado in another name ( Injoji Temple 引接寺 いんじょうじ ) is a Shingon temple of Japanese Buddhism. Injo means that Buddha leads our way after life to the heaven. It was founded way in the 11th century. The temple is located on Senbon Street ( on the west side ) between Imadegawa and Kitaoji street. It's a little south of Kuramaguchi street. It is in the middle of shops on the street known as Senbon shopping arcade. The temple in known for its deity of Emma who is the King of the Hell and its Main Hall is dedicated to Emma, the King of Hell. On the west side the precincts there are so many Jizo can seen behind the main hall. This part is very enjoyable. There is a large water pool right in front of Jizos. On the side is an offering box and dippers. Just offer some small change and splash water over Jizos using one of those dippers. Before you come around to this corner of the temple, you walk through a little space of many interestinng features such as a garden with some small shrine gates along with stone monuments, statues, tomb stones etc. Senbon Enmado is also known for its rare varieties of late-flowering cherry trees and an impressive stone pagoda in the grounds.
