★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 岩手県一関市と秋田県雄勝郡東成瀬村を分ける峠。この峠で特筆すべきは何といっても峠の真上で温泉が湧いているという事だろう。須川温泉の脇の斜面を登っていけば、こんこんと湧き出す須川温泉の源泉がそこにある。
一時期騒動になった温泉偽装問題とは全く無縁なのはこれを見れば一目瞭然で、むしろ捨てる程湧き出ているからあふれ出たお湯はそのまま足湯にされているくらいである。ちなみに藩政時代などは、強烈な酸性の湯が下流の農作物を枯らすとかで、元々秋田側に流れていたものを岩手側に流したなどともいわれていて中々厄介な存在だったようだ。
折角これだけの温泉が湧き出ているのだから当然温泉に入らない手はないが、岩手側の須川高原温泉でも秋田側の栗駒山荘でも好きな方に入ったらいい。昭和的であるものの源泉に近い須川高原温泉か、露天の眺めの良い栗駒山荘かといったところだが、ともに強烈な須川の湯を楽しむことができることには変わりない（当然入った後は体が硫黄臭でぷんぷんになるw）。
尚、休日は日帰り利用の客や栗駒登山の発着点となっているので登山者などで結構混雑していることが多いようだ。
A pass that separates Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture and Higashinaruse Village, Ogachi District, Akita Prefecture. The most notable thing about this pass is that the hot springs are springing right above the pass. If you climb the slope beside Sukawa Onsen, you will find the source of Sukawa Onsen that springs up.
It is obvious from this that it has nothing to do with the hot spring camouflage problem that has been a turmoil for a while, but rather the hot water that overflows is used as a footbath as it is because it springs up enough to be thrown away. By the way, during the feudal era, it was said that the intensely acidic hot water withered the crops downstream, and what was originally flowing to the Akita side was washed away to the Iwate side, and it seems that it was a troublesome existence.
Of course, there is no way you can't go to the hot springs because there are so many hot springs, but you can go to either Sukawa Kougen Onsen on the Iwate side or Kurikoma Sanso on the Akita side. Although it is Showa-era, it is either Sukawa Kougen Onsen, which is close to the source, or Kurikoma Sanso, which has a nice view of the open air. It becomes fluffy w).
In addition, since it is a departure and arrival point for day-trippers and Kurikoma mountain climbing on holidays, it seems that it is often quite crowded with climbers.
