★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 永禄5年、駒込吉祥寺三世・圭隆大和尚により江戸清水門外に創建された。後、慶長年間に田安門外に移転、さらに元和2年には江戸城拡張のため牛込横寺町に移った。
その後、明治41年、現在地に移転した。
墓地には板倉重昌の墓・剣術家 岡田十松 (岡田吉利) の墓・儒学者 長坂円陵（黒肱）の墓などあります。
It was built outside Edo Shimizu Gate by Komagome Kichijoji III and Keiryu Yamato Sho in the 5th year of Eiroku. Later, during the Keicho period, he moved to the outside of Tayasumon, and in the second year of Genwa, he moved to Ushigome Yokoderamachi to expand Edo Castle.
After that, it moved to the present location in 1891.
The graveyard includes the grave of Shigemasa Itakura, the grave of the swordsman Tomatsu Matsuda (Yoshitoshi Okada), and the grave of the Confucian scholar Enryaku Nagasaka.
