★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 堀坂という名称は文政（1818〜30）の頃、堀家が坂の修復をして「ほりさか」と刻んだ石標を建てた事から言われるようになったそうです。
The name Horisaka came to be said when the Hori family repaired the slope and built a stone marker engraved with "Horisaka" during the Bunsei period (1818-30).

正面「本りさ可(ほりさか)」
左面「文政五年壬午？月」
いずれも草書。草書はまだよく読めない。
『小石川志料』には以下のようにある。
「この坂は宮内坂又は源三坂と唱へたるものにて、堀坂といへるは其後の称なりといふ、東南は眼界頗る広し」
A monument from the Bunsei period is digging into the wall. The characters engraved are as follows.
Front `` Honrisa available ''
On the left side, "Bunsei 5th year Imago? Month"
Both are cursive. The cursive is not yet readable.
"Shishi Koishikawa" has the following.
"This slope is like Miyauchizaka or Genmisaka, and Horisaka is the name after it, and the southeast is very wide."
