When I went on June 24th, the area around Sazaedo was under construction and I couldn't see it. It is a big Sazaedo. The exterior of the building seemed to have been repaired and the board seemed to be new. It is a nationally designated important cultural property.

It is a temple of the Soto sect in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture. It is safe to say that the only highlight is Sazaedo, which is designated as an Important Cultural Property, but the Sazaedo is quite attractive. Sazaedo is a Buddhist temple with a double-spiral corridor inside the temple. While going through the hall, turn clockwise three times and return to the entrance. It is said that you can get the same benefits as a pilgrimage with one visit, and since the routes of climbing and descending do not intersect, even a large number of people can worship without delay. Originally it was called Sansodo, but it is said that it has come to be known as Sazaedo because of its structure. There are several similar buildings in eastern Japan, and the former Sazaedo Temple in Aizu is famous. Although it looks like a sazae, it is no longer a Buddhist temple as it says "old". The forehead of the musty dynasty 24 Takashi is displayed in the hall, and I am not thankful for this. It's more like Sazaedo than Sazaedo, but Sazaedo's Sazaedo is packed tightly and it's worth visiting. In addition to the principal image of Uoai Kannon, a hundred Kannon statues named after the Kannon sacred sites in Chichibu, Bando, and Saigoku are enshrined in the hall. Sazaedo carried out large-scale repairs from 2015 to 2017, but while minimizing the application of new materials, the ink on the wall left by the worshipers is preserved as much as possible. I think this is a wonderful example, as repairs often spoil the appearance. Other than Sogenji, there are historic sites in Ota City such as Kanayama Castle Ruins and Nitta Shrine, and Serada Toshogu at Daikoin (Daikoin), but all of them are delicate for distant tourists to visit. is. However, there is Menuma Seiten, a national treasure, in Kumagaya City, which is adjacent across the prefectural border, and Kumagaya Station is also the gateway to the Chichibu 34 Kannon Sacred Ground. Buses from Kumagaya Station to Ota Station via Menuma Seiten also run reasonably well, so if you organize your itinerary well, you will be fully satisfied. Since it is a small family-owned temple, it may not be possible to visit the temple or stamp it depending on the day. Tenmei was a terrifying time. There was a serious famine that ate the meat of the starving dead, and the population of Japan decreased by about one million due to escape, plague and destruction. It is said that the major cause was the large eruption of Mt. Asama in the 3rd year of Tenmei. The black smoke was high and thick, and it remained pitch black for a long time even in the daytime. On August 5, 3rd year of Tenmei, "debris avalanche" flowed out from Mt. Asama. An avalanche with a height of 7 m attacked Kamahara Village (currently Tsumagoi Village, Gunma Prefecture) at a tremendous speed of 100 km / h, and in a blink of an eye, it flowed into the Agatsuma River while swallowing 80% of the villagers, and headed for the Tone River downstream. Countless bodies arrived in the shallow waters of Yatsutajima, Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture. In front of the myriad bodies that had been pulled up, the inhabitants broke down in the tragedy. Many monks were gathered from a nearby temple and a large memorial service was given. The chief priest of Sogenji was also added there. The chief priest thought about the construction of Sazaedo Temple. When I went around the corridor, I planned to be able to take the place of the Hyakkannon Sacred Grounds in Chichibu, Bando, and Saigoku. If you go around Sazaedo with such a background in mind, you will notice the history of mourning the dead and trying to overcome the wounds of the living.

It is a place where you might pass by without a navigation system. The appearance is good, but I have to look inside, and the hut group was amazing.

I happened to find Sazaedo. It was interesting because I had seen it in Fukushima. It is also the motif of the municipal library in front of Ota Station.

Sogenji Sazaedo is an important cultural property of the country, and in the three-story hall, 100 Kannons that imitate the Kannons of Chichibu, Bando, and Shikoku are enshrined. It is said that you can get the merit of visiting 100 temples. On the 3rd floor, all the red stamps of the Hyakkannon Sacred Ground are lined up, and there are also statues of Prince Shotoku and frogs (safely returned). In addition, there are names left by worshipers and the date and time of worship all over the wall, and the oldest one is 220 years old.

It is a rare building that can be climbed up and down by spiral stairs at the main hall of Soto Sect Shojuzan Sogenji in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture. Built over 200 years ago, it has been designated as a national important cultural property. Parking is free and admission is 300 yen.

It is a famous temple in Sazaedo. Climb while spinning around the building like a seashell sazae, and descend while spinning around again. And because there are two stairs, it is a one-way street that goes up and down and does not batting with other people. It seems that the restoration work has been done recently, and we are changing the aluminum sashes etc. up to that point to wooden windows as they were at the time of construction. Therefore, you can see the remnants of the good old days in the appearance. it's recommended.
