1927年（昭和2年）地上駅で開業。その3年後、1930年（昭和5年）高架化に。
2004年（平成16年）当駅と反町駅の間で地下化となる。
地下化に伴いもともとの地上軌道路線跡は東横フラワー緑道として整備され、地域の憩いの散歩コースとなっている。
駅高架の下に県道横浜上麻生道路の地方主要道路が通り、斜めX状に交差する。
また、旧東海道神奈川宿を流れていた滝の川は、片倉町辺りを源流とし、この駅付近を通るが、二ツ谷から暗渠化されている。

Opened at the ground station in 1927 (Showa 2). Three years later, in 1930 (Showa 5) to the elevated.
It becomes underground between our station and Sorimachi Station in 2004 (2004).
The original ground track route trace is maintained as Toyoko flower green road with undergroundization, and it has become a walk course of the local rest.
Under the elevated railway station, the local main road of prefectural road Yokohama Kami Asao Road passes and crosses diagonally in the shape of X.
In addition, the waterfall river that used to flow through the former Tokaido Kanagawa Yard, with the area around Katakura Town as the headwater, passes near this station, but has been concealed from Natsutani.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 狭い駅ですが、エレベーターとホームドアが設置されています。改札外には以前は売店が設置されていましたが、現在はありません。みなとみらいや中華街、渋谷や新宿や埼玉方面に乗り換え無しで行けますが、急行が停車しない駅なので、地元民には、東神奈川を経由して菊名や横浜での乗り換えを利用する方が多いです。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lineal park follows this line to Yokohama station. Cross the street and walk parallel to the train line and you will find it. Open from 7am to evening. A nice walk away from traffic. It is not shown on the map but should be.
