Hideyo Noguchi was a Bacteriologist, who started early research into Yellow Fever. His hometown is Inawashiro and the museum houses his original birthplace. Inawashiro is a very beautiful town with great mountains and amazing greens. Great place to visit when in Japan.

Also has audio information available via a free wifi system with English instructions on how to join. There are some children activities but those are only available in Japanese. The museum is a must see for anybody interested in medicine and medical history. It is however interesting for all people. There is wheelchair access to all parts (elevators available for the upstairs section), clean toilets and nursing area. Great for solo, family or friends visits.

G	Grace MT on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hideyo Noguchi is was a prominent Japanese bacteriologist who discovered the agent of syphilis as the cause of progressive paralytic disease. I visited this place during the COVID-19 pandemic and was struck by how serious, enormous, and important his work was. Here is the house where Hideyo Noguchi grew up. At the second floor upstairs you can even meet and talk to him!
