★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 別名・宍戸古館跡。茨城郡宍戸庄と言われたこの地を鎌倉時代から治めた宍戸氏の居城跡。宍戸氏は藤原北家道兼流、宇都宮宗綱の子・八田知家を祖とする。筑波郡などを治めた小田氏の分家にあたり、常陸国における名門の一つ。南北朝時代に武家方（北朝方）として将軍足利氏を支え、宮方（南朝方）の小田氏と一時袂を分かつ。
室町時代以降、本家の小田氏が勢力拡大すると宍戸氏はそれに従いつつ、水戸城を本拠とする江戸氏とも誼を通じた。戦国時代に入ると北の名門・佐竹氏の勢いが増して小田氏は衰退。宍戸氏は佐竹氏や江戸氏、そして豊臣氏に従った。
Also known as the ruins of Shishido Kokan. The ruins of Mr. Shishido, who ruled this area in Ibaraki-gun Shido-sho from the Kamakura period. Mr. Shishido is the origin of Fujiwara Kita-kaido and the Utsunomiya Munazuna child, Tomata Hatta. This is one of the prestigious countries in the land of the land of Mr. Oda who ruled Tsukuba County. During the North and South Korean era, he supported Shogun Ashikaga as a samurai (north morning), and shared a temporary trap with Oda from Miyakata (south morning).
After the Muromachi period, the head family Mr. Oda expanded his power, and Mr. Shido followed it, along with Mr. Edo, based in Mito Castle. When entering the Sengoku period, the momentum of the prestigious North, Mr. Satake increased, and Mr. Oda declined. Mr. Shishido followed Mr. Satake, Mr. Edo and Mr. Toyotomi.
