JR学研都市線そしておおさか東線との駅。交通の要衝。 『はなてん』と読みます。乗降客や乗換の多さの割に駅舎併設の施設や周辺にも大型の商業施設などはありません。南側は高層マンション。北側には昔ながらの商店街。新旧入り乱れた感のある街並みです。駅前は整備されているため、次は周辺開発に期待したいと思います。 重要2路線に相応しい施設、沿線価値の向上、潤いと活力に満ちた町作り、そういった視点で駅周辺を開発してほしいと思いました。 またおおさか東線は新大阪へ直接向かうことが出来ることで非常に便利になっています。加えてその間の駅である、野江、城北公園通り、淡路、南吹田と交通の空白箇所を埋める役割や乗換経由地としての役割そして沿線価値の向上にも大きな役割を担っている路線だと思います。

片町線(東西線)とおおさか東線の接続駅。おおさか東線の放出~新大阪延伸が行われる前は、奈良からの直通快速も尼崎行き(しかも京橋以西各駅停車)、分岐も久宝寺方面のみで、接続駅の割に利便性が悪そうな感じがありましたが、新大阪方面へのアクセスが改善されたことで化けた駅と言えるでしょう。 外側が東西線、内側がおおさか東線、の使用が基本となっていて、データイムは東西線快速(区間快速)とおおさか東線の各停が接続するパターンダイヤとなっているようです。 隣の鴫野までが複々線となっていて、京橋方面から見ると、郊外に向かっているのに一部区間だけ利便性が高くなる逆転区間となりますね。 また、この駅は鶴見区にありますが、すぐ南西は城東区、南東は東大阪市となっていて、自治体の境目がすぐ近くにあるのも興味深いです。
