★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I usually don't write comment on restaurants, but wanted to write one for this one. The food is really good, no doubt! But the staff...not cool at all. Not professional. Not focused. Not polite. Actually not what we saw in Tokyo during the last 5 days...so I wouldn't recommend the place because of them which is a shame when you tasted their yakitori...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cover charge and overall rude service, without good food to offset these factors in any way. Yakitori was bland, vegetable skewers were bland, but beer which is frankly pretty hard to mess up was... beer. Wouldn't recommend unless you have no other options for yakitori.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went to this Yakitori restaurant with my friend since it was recommended by some websites. When we both first stepped into the restaurant, we were ‘greeted’ by an elderly waitress (read: auntie) who couldn’t really speak English. She was pointing towards a sign near the cashier that stated there would be a “cover charge” of 330 yen, and each person must order one food and drink. So we agreed to it, and went into the restaurant. Throughout the entire time, she thought we were from China and kept trying to tell us that there weren’t any menus in Chinese even though both of us had already told her that an English menu is fine. Basically, throughout the entire time, she was acting a little hostile to us just because we looked Chinese. Also, it turns out that the “cover charge” is an entry fee. As a result, our bill turned out to be 2500 yen for 5 sticks of yakitori. The other staff here are actually quite nice, so if you ever decide to come here, try your best to avoid the auntie. The food is pretty decent too, but its a pity this place has less than satisfactory business practices and one of their waitresses does not serve professionally.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went in there early and it is great. I had the omakase 5 skewer plus shitake mushroom and some sort of green chilly pepper (it is not spicy which is good) and they are right, skewers go very well with ginger high....delicious

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You need to pay an entry fee (3 euros) plus at least drink per person (5 euros). So, you're not eating yet, already spent 8 euros. Then you order yakitori, their "hajime-ya's choice". They show you two of them on the picture, but it will only be one by one... But don't worry, the price will be the double. No need to spend more time speaking about the waitress, which is terrible. Toilets here are really dirty. Can't be worse.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a cosy place and we sat at the bar where we had incredible service. All the skewers are either chicken or vegetable. They have a great range though and I had a really good time there enjoying the yakitori with beer. As a non smoker there were a couple of people smoking next to me but I didn't notice the smoke/smell so I wouldn't worry if it's a concern. Great atmosphere and we'll priced, we'll definitely visit again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the best yakitori place I have eaten in my 10-day stay in Shinjuku. We tried the atsumi, arubatsubo, original chicken skin, tsukune, hatsu, and puchi tamato. All of the skewers were amazing especially the atsumi and original chicken skin where I had to get seconds and thirds! I'm in full regret that I didn't eat at this place until later in my stay and opted for a random yakitori place in "pee alley" on the first arrival here. There is nothing like this place back in the states, you won't regret it!
