Gyu-Kaku Shinsaibashi

The food was fantastic, prices were reasonable, however their services needs improvement.

It was very delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful. We want to come here again when we stay Osaka.

Food: 3/5 Average quality meats Service: 4/5 Good service when not busy Value: 3/5 Average value Ambiance: 3/5 seating areas downstairs as well as the 2nd floor, can get quite smokey and greasy due to the high fat contents of the meats. Used to be a big fan of Gyu-Kaku in Cupertino CA, sadly the way that the restaurant chain operates in Japan is different from the way that Gyu-Kaku operates in the US. The restaurants in the US were solid 4's, sadly the chain in Japan is a solid 3. Most plans are all you can eat plans, where depending on the plan you get a selection of meats and drinks that you can order. Sadly the overall quality of the meats is average at best. So it comes down to all you can eat at Gyu-Kaku vs eating somewhere else that has a fixed quantity but higher quality meat selection.

food was great with a good variety. food came very quickly as well but sadly my experience was tarnished due to the staff who weren't very friendly. would not be coming back to this restaurant and would not be recommending it.

The main theme of this restaurant is that it provided various cuts of choice beef or other meats to be barbecued by ourselves on individual charcoal grills. This restaurant was considered averagely priced for the same type of barbecue offering, around ¥2,500 yen per dish of choice cut beef. There were other similar restaurants along Dotombori, but they were generally priced much higher around double this ball park figure as well as having to wait for a table at those more upmarket restaurants for almost a half hour before finding your table. This type of Japanese meal where choice cuts of beef are roasted on open fire is definitely very popular around these parts of Osaka. A restaurant may be expensive but it does not mean you don't have to wait for a table. Only if you have both can you tango. There was also other cuts of meat to choose from like lamb or chicken if you had preferred to not only concentrate on beef. There were also fresh vegetables or ceasar salad etc..to choose as seconds or even thirds. The menu was definitely comprehensive. We went for three dishes of choice cut beef, a dish of shrimps and scallops(2 of each), a bowl of Kimchi, several large glasses Ashahi draught beer as starters. Later on we decided to add a bowl of soup noodles each (2 persons) which was only half finished. The total bill for the night including the drinks came to only ¥9,500 yen for two people. I would say, it was a satisfying meal indeed, the choice of meat was well picked, especially the beef which was juicy and tender, and what we came for primarily, the draught beer was cold. If we didn't order the soup noodles later, the bill will still be lesser by another ¥1,300. So altogether an inexpensive meal could have been had for about ¥8,000 yen (for two people) with not much complaints about the quality or the quantity of food. The beef at this restaurant was truly choice cuts without any faults.

The food was really good, but we were disappointed with the service. They brought our food (fresh food, not meat) to the wrong table, and when the customer picked up the food, carried it over to the server and said "we didn't order this," they took it from the customer's hands and placed on our table. Twice. 90% sure this is a health code violation, for obvious reasons. If they are willing to do this right in front of the customer, it makes me worried about what's going on that we can't see. I won't go back.

all u can eat is worthy

Very good restaurant! With plenty of shops close by it is a great place to stop for dinner. The staff were friendly and able to understand English enough to get the right order. I was very happy with over all experience and it was great value for money.
