★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went during the afternoon on a business day and it was not so crowded (I would suggest to still avoid rush hour though).
The tempura is freshly-prepared by the chef who has an overview of all the guests in the restaurant. The chef works in a glassed-off kitchen area, so he can observe everyone and the guests can also watch him work--quite interesting and the air circulation is nice so that you don't smell any of the frying oils, etc. from the kitchen.
Tempura was good, crispy, I recommend ordering one of the set menus (I had the Tempura Don). Attentive service as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Surprisingly good tempura with generous portions at reasonable price. Chance upon this when we just arrived at Kyoto station after our flight and it made it a good start to our vacation. Tempura was light and the oil did not leave a bad after taste.
