Hidden gem in the otherwise popular tourist-trap area. Very basic place and limited choices, but you cannot go wrong here. You will primarily find locals here for breakfast.

Old ladies(waitresses) gave bad attitude and they didn’t allow all five people to sit together which it was okay. We sat two separate two-people tables, one with two people and the other with three people. However, they told us two people had to squeeze into one tiny side, whereas there wasn’t enough of space to even put a second plate. We asked if another person can sit another table. They told us to leave and kicked us out. Really disappointed and felt got treated unfairly by this well-reputed restaurant.

Nice deep fried pork sandwich with fresh ketchup with vintage Japanese atmosphere.

No doubt! The food makes you wanna fall in love with this place. But.. When entering the restaurant you immediately get the feeling that it’s a very local place where some mostly elder people like to hang out. So that’s really great of course but I feel like the waitress didn’t like to serve us and gave minimum attention. It took a very long time for the food to arrive, but we actually had a great time. Because.. If you are new to these very old restaurants in Japan and like this special atmosphere you should go there because it’s beautiful, authentic and yummy. To all who are very familiar with this already, perhaps skip it because the downsides will be too obvious.

The owner old lady was very harsh and mean. The food was below average. I do not recommend this place.

I love places like this, it doesn't look like much had changed in this place in 30 years, it just does what it does simply and well. Whilst the menu had English the others patrons here are decidedly local and it seems they come in almost every day (the staff see them at the bottom of the steps and start preparing their drinks before they even open the door). The menu is toast, sandwiches and chicken and super tasty. Apparently it opened in Ginza in the 50s, hence the name, but moved to Asakusa in the 60s.

Love this little cafe that’s hidden in a busy Asakusa shopping area. We Ordered the pork cutlet sandwich, it’s so classic and simple, but everything is so detailed, super delicious! Such a great place for breakfast!!!! Will defiantly recommend this cafe and would love to visit here again!!!
