★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 七瀬川に斜めに架かっている橋なので直違橋とも呼ばれ、このあたりの地名の由来になっています（今はさほど斜めにはなっていません）。
橋の上からはさっぱり分かりませんが、横から見ると石造の真円のアーチ橋になっています。結構珍しいので、是非ご覧ください。
橋の上の通りは伏見街道（伏水街道）ですが、地元では本町通と呼ぶのが普通です。通りの南端の国道２４号線との分岐点の標識には大和街道と表記されています。
この街道は、豊臣秀吉の伏見築城時に伏見と京を直線的に結ぶ道として作られ、五条通から真っ直ぐ南下した道は墨染通で西に折れ、伏見城下のメインストリートである京町通に接続しています。

This highway was created as a straight line connecting Fushimi and Kyoto when Toyotomi Hideyoshi built Fushimi, and the road that went straight south from Gojo-dori turned west at Sumizome-dori and connected to Kyomachi-dori, the main street under Fushimi Castle. I am.
